{After 15 years, our kitchen was in sad shape—the floors and countertops were worn, the cabinets and walls stained. But rather than a compete redo, we decided on a more cost-effective refresh. We had the floors sanded and coated, put in new countertops, and hired James Harvey Painting & Color to refinish the cabinets and repaint the room. Husband and wife team Maribeth and Jay did a fantastic job. Maribeth’s suggestions for cabinet, wall and trim colors and Jay’s professional work painting led to impressive results. The green of the cabinets ties the room to the gardens seen through the bank of windows, and the warm white of the walls highlights the posts, beams and paneling in this18th century room. {Word-of-mouth recommendations are the best, in my opinion. After hearing about The Harvey Group from 3 neighbors and seeing their kitchen results by The Harvey group , I made an appointment with Maribeth. I had thought a long time of what I wanted for my kitchen cabinet project so I had some definite ideas to begin the appointment. Maribeth both gave me some other color options but also agreed that my vision for the kitchen would work well. She explained that the project would take one week, start to finish. The start date was set.
Jay came on Monday at 8, looked the room over, removed cabinet door hardware and took the doors home. The next three days, Jay showed up on time, worked til about 2, as well as continuing the work at home. Thursday was the finale and it looked GREAT. Jay had even taken it upon himself to repaint the walls under the chair rail as the paint had faded and contrasted a little with the shade on the lower cabinets. No one would probably have noticed but me. I appreciated his quality of work, his attention to detail. Everything turned out even better than my vision.. I highly recommend The Harvey Group. I love my “new” kitchen. A very reasonable cost, a high end result. I had the feeling they were working WITH me, not just FOR me, to achieve my dream.

It was such a pleasure working with Maribeth and Jay. Maribeth guided us through the entire process, came out for a color consultation, and was always available to answer questions along the way. Who will actually paint my cabinets?
Jay Harvey, the owner. Jay personally refinishes and paints every kitchen we do. There are no rotating crews and no wondering who will be working in your home. Jay works carefully and respectfully, keeping disruption to a minimum if there is any at all.
How experienced are you?
Cabinet refinishing is our specialty. Jay has personally refinished and painted cabinets in more than 350 kitchens throughout Cape Cod and the South Shore, bringing years of hands-on experience to every project.
What if I have no idea what color to choose?
That’s where Maribeth comes in! She’ll help you select a color that works beautifully with your countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting, and the overall style of your kitchen. Color guidance is part of the personal service we provide.
Is refinishing less expensive than replacing my cabinets?
Absolutely. If you’re happy with the layout and condition of your existing cabinets, refinishing can give your kitchen a beautiful new look without the expense, mess, and disruption of a full cabinet replacement.
